Assistant/Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering*
The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Mechanical Engineering Department, due to its continuing growth, is hiring up to two tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates are sought with expertise in the disciplines of solid mechanics, thermal-fluid sciences, and/or dynamic systems and controls, who are actively engaged in scholarly work on fundamental studies of engineering and science. The candidate is expected to develop an independent, nationally-recognized, externally-funded scholarly research program and to become active in professional service. She or he will teach existing courses as well as develop innovative undergraduate and graduate courses. The candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
The position is available July 1, 2013. Full consideration will be given to candidates who apply by January 11, 2013. The salary, benefits, and start-up package will be highly competitive.
Mechanical Engineering is one of five departments in the College of Engineering. The Department has growing undergraduate and graduate programs, 12 faculty members, and access to modern laboratory facilities which support a diverse set of research programs (for more information see www.unr.edu/me). The department averages more than $2 million in research expenditures annually.
Reno is on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe and its magnificent recreational opportunities, and 4 hours from San Francisco. The area has population 425,000, a full array of retail and service outlets, and an international airport.
The candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
