The incumbent in this job assists the law school's Institute for Compliance by developing, administering, and overseeing internships/externships in the compliance field, conducting outreach to alumni and other legal and compliance professionals, and coordinating speakers for various compliance lectures and events.
The Institute for Compliance promotes careers in financial compliance, trains and prepares students for such careers, increases knowledge of the importance of compliance, and provides various events for the Chicago-based compliance and legal community.
Key Responsibility 1
Developing, administering, and overseeing the Internship/Externship component of the Institute for Compliance to provide students with the opportunity to obtain real-world, every day experience in the compliance field. Conducting outreach to alumni and other legal and compliance professionals for participating in the Institute for Compliance's externships/internships. Reviewing applications, determining eligibility, and choosing student externship/internship participants. Providing ongoing advice and counsel to externships/internship students.
Key Responsibility 2
Expanding the program to engage with continuing education and training for compliance personnel.
Key Responsibility 3
Identifying and coordinating speakers for various compliance lectures, conferences, workshops, and events.
Key Responsibility 4
Soliciting donors/contributors to the Institute for Compliance.
Key Responsibility 5
Researching and addressing trends and emerging issues in the compliance field.
The incumbent in this job will perform all types of verbal, written and electronic communications involving faculty, staff, students, administration, alumni, donors, institutions and other members of the general public ? especially legal and compliance professionals.
The incumbent in this position works heavily with students, alumni, and legal and compliance professionals. He/she will also work with different entities in the law department and other members of the general public.
Education & Experience:
This position requires a Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of two years in program administration/management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and a minimum of one year in a compliance related job and/or experience in a financial institution.
This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills in order to relate to students, and legal and compliance professionals. In addition, it requires excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills. This position also requires a tremendous amount of multitasking and focused attention to detail.
Certifications & Licenses:
A Juris Doctor degree is required.
