Position: The (Senior) Writer/Editor will write and research articles, brochures, video scripts, advertisements and e-communications that promote the university. This person will work particularly closely with the campus research community to produce science writing in a bimonthly newsletter and biannual mini-magazine, and will contribute briefs and feature stories to Terp, the university magazine published three times a year. In every assignment, the Writer/Editor will contribute creative, compelling, innovative writing and will assist the University Editor in ensuring that all materials published by the office are of the highest editorial standards, meet university identity guidelines and are aligned with university and client objectives and needs.

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.): B.A. or B.S. in journalism, communication, English or a science field.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of proven communications excellence and/or project management experience in a professional writing and editing environment, particularly in feature writing and informational and promotional material.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The ability to identify science-based story ideas and distill complex concepts into clear, engaging copy; The ability to manage multiple projects and evolving priorities and to see opportunities to present content in different platforms; The ability to work creatively, collaboratively and on deadline and budget; Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Familiarity with higher education environment and knowledge of AP style are preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Traditional office environment.

Compensation: Salary range is $50,000s - $63,000s. Competitive and commensurate with experience.
