The Department of Performing and Fine Arts consists of four areas: music, visual art, theater and dance. The music area, which is accredited by the National Association for Schools of Music, offers a BA in General Music (instrumental and vocal) and a BS in Music Education (instrumental and vocal). The Department seeks a candidate who will coordinate the keyboard area, teach applied piano and manage and maintain the piano inventory. Additional responsibilities will be assigned according to the needs of the department and the abilities of the candidate in one or more of the following areas: music theory, conducting, composition, music technology, music education, and jazz. It is expected that the candidate will be active as a performer and collaborative artist in chamber music. Recruiting, maintaining a successful studio, and being active in local, regional, and national piano teacher organizations are also expected.
The ideal applicant will have an earned doctorate by appointment date, a record of success in teaching piano at the collegiate level, demonstrated excellence as a soloist or musical collaborator, evidence of scholarly and creative activity, and previous experience coordinating a keyboard area.
