Job Description: The selected candidate will perform journeyman level work in general carpentry and building repair work. Duties of this position include carpentry work in the repair of floors, partitions, doors, windows, and stairways; professionally hanging doors; replacing glass and screen in doors and windows; and replacing/adjusting door closures and stoppers. The selected candidate will plan, build, install, and repair furniture, cabinets, bookcases, tables, and other specialty items. Other duties of this position include installation of acoustical lay in ceilings, installation of floor tile, and erection of metal and wood stud walls.

A working knowledge of shop woodworking equipment is necessary in that the selected candidate will be responsible for routine maintenance and adjustment of shop equipment. Candidates should have experience in fabrication of raised panel doors, window sash, and specialty moldings. Graduation from high school and three years of experience in a cabinet shop/millwork environment are preferred. Candidates should possess a valid NC driver's license and be eligible to operate a state-owned vehicle in accordance with the ECU property policy.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 63 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
