Job Description: The Enterprise Analytics team, within IT-Software Development Services, is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing campus-wide reporting, analysis, and decision support solutions for East Carolina University. Fulfilling these responsibilities requires the investigation, synthesis, modeling, and integration of data within the Banner system, and among a variety of legacy and third-party business systems. Through these and related activities, Enterprise Analytics provides primary support for the University's business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives. Members of this team also work closely with departmental units across the campus to educate the University's information workers in the effective use of ad hoc analysis and reporting software, and where necessary, assist functional areas in planning and developing custom software-based solutions that automate and inform business and decision making processes.

As part of the Enterprise Analytics team, this position provides expertise in advanced analysis and solution development for the University's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Microsoft's SQL Server Business Intelligence suite (Reporting Services, Integration Services, Analysis Services), and East Carolina University's Business Intelligence Center (ecuBIC), all in support of the University's strategic planning process, and related initiatives, including the University Dashboard. This position works closely with Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research, engaging in highly complex analytical software development activities, to design and implement database components and processes that reflect, accurately, the business rules of the institution, and which form the basis for knowledge and performance management solutions. Project work consists of a wide range of special assignments that frequently involve the integration of information residing in enterprise-level systems and data stores that are hosted on departmental/enterprise servers and other large-scale systems. This position must be highly proficient in the use of the SQL language and a variety of database extraction, manipulation, modeling, and management tools. This position will often function as the top-level technical contributor for project work involving the Ellucian EDW systems and Microsoft's SQL Server Business Intelligence suite, serving, when necessary, as a technical consultant to applications technicians/analysts, project leaders, managers, departments, faculty, and other university personnel and organizations. This position must be able to perform the work activities described above with only limited technical supervision.

Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft's SQL Server Business Intelligence suite (Reporting Services, Integration Services, Analysis Services) and extensive working knowledge of each of the following: Oracle and SQL Server databases and development tools, MS Visual Studio Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS), T-SQL, PL/SQL, and MS SharePoint Tools and Technologies.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 81 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
