The Division of Accounting, Finance, MIS, and Economics in the College of Business and Public Administration at Governors State University seeks applications for a Visiting Professor in Accounting beginning in August, 2013. Visiting Professors will be appointed for a specific period of time, normally one to two years. This temporary faculty position's primary duties will emphasize teaching responsibilities but may also encourage research and community service activities. Although this position is not tenure-track and not a part of the faculty bargaining unit, it may be an ideal position for an ABD candidate to obtain significant teaching experience prior to going into the tenure track market. There may be the potential for this position to transition to a tenure track position. Governors State is especially interested in "growing our own" accounting faculty to better serve our diverse student population.
The successful candidate will be academically or professionally qualified to teach graduate and undergraduate accounting courses in our bachelor's programs in business, economics, entrepreneurship, and accounting, as well as our MBA, Master's of Science in Accounting, and Masters of Science in MIS Programs. The College serves approximately 900 graduate and undergraduate students. We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills and interest in working with diverse, non-traditional student populations.
