The CTBUH International Operations Manager will coordinate CTBUH operations around the world, initially concentrating on the launch of a new China office in Shanghai. The international offices will act as the conduit for translation and promotion of international CTBUH output to the global tall building industry, as well as concentrating on specific regional initiatives such as research, events and publications. The preferred candidate will have a proven track record of leading projects and developing international connections, either in academia or the private sector. The ideal candidate will be experienced in tall building design and construction, with relevant knowledge of the architectural, construction or engineering industry.

Key Responsibility 1
Lead CTBUH initiatives throughout the world to disseminate the latest technical knowledge on tall building development;

Key Responsibility 2
Provide a conduit for all CTBUH activities in countries such as China, including events, publications and membership outreach;

Key Responsibility 3
Feed global developments back into CTBUH initiatives, including research, awards, publications, website and database resources, etc.;

Key Responsibility 4
Develop programs that provide value to overseas-based members and spread best practices within the tall building industry;

Key Responsibility 5
Serve as a spokesperson for the organization with press / media / others.

This position requires excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as strong interpersonal relations skills. The position is responsible for establishing the first CTBUH international office, including recruiting, training and managing staff as well as coordinating efforts of external resources.

Customer Service:
Clear and concise communication and exceptional member relations are vital to maintaining reputable Council relationships. Supervisory overview will be maintained through regular copy on communications and feedback from contacts, and performance will be measured through growth of the overseas membership.

Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree in a relevant field required.

Relevant experience of having worked in the architectural or engineering field is ideal.

Prior experience in program/project management, either in academia or private sector, is highly desirable.

Chinese language proficiency will be a distinct advantage.

Preferred Skills:
The candidate should portray excellent techniques of oral and written communication as well as interpersonal relations skills.

Strong software skills required, specifically MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat professional. Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign, helpful.

Excellent organizational skills are required to manage deadlines and coordinate input from various sources.

Chinese language speaking, writing and translating skills would be very helpful to the role.
