The Executive Director of the Black Hawk College Foundation is Responsible for annual giving and special events, and assisting with planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive development program including annual fundraising campaigns, larger projects such as capital campaigns, donor cultivation, deferred giving, and foundation and corporate giving. Develops and maintains database in support of above. Provides leadership and technical skills for writing and securing major corporate and private grants.

The essential duties for this position include:

a. Responsible for coordinating fund development activities for the Black Hawk College Foundation (Quad-Cities Campus) including the scheduling of Board meetings, preparing fund drives, planning, coordinating and conducting special events/activities.
b. Assists President in developing stewardship strategies and operating an effective deferred giving program.
c. Assists President in researching and developing an on-going plan of action to increase assets and donor base for the Foundation.
d. Develops sources of contributions and coordinates necessary donor contacts with appropriate follow-up to achieve annual goals.
e. Responsible for record keeping procedures and accounting procedures for the Foundation.
f. Assists in the development of printed materials relating to fundraising for the Foundation.
g. Plans and coordinates meetings of the Foundation Board.
h. Acquires and disseminates grant information; assists with and promotes grant writing for all areas of the College.
i. Represents the College and Foundation by actively participating in community activities.
j. Perform other such job related duties as may be assigned by the President or Foundation Board Chair.

Education & Experience:

a. Bachelor's degree required.
b. Minimum three years of demonstrated experience in major aspects of fundraising, preferably within a community college or university environment, with a record of campaigns and deferred giving success in major gift solicitation.
c. Excellent managerial and communication skills are essential.
d. Working knowledge of computerized bookkeeping and accounting practices relative to foundations is preferred.
e. Skilled in utilizing emerging communication technology to create a virtual network with students, alumni and community leaders.
