PERSONNEL STATUS: Exempt, Full-time, Regular
DEPARTMENT: Office of Institutional Advancement
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Development, the incumbent is primarily responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of gift prospects through meeting an annual goal of personal visits and solicitations. A significant portion of this position will be focused on identifying and cultivating new alumni prospects capable of giving at the major gift level. The individual will also develop solicitation strategies and coordinate the involvement of other administrators, faculty/staff, alumni and volunteers; maintain donor records on the donor database; attend events which facilitate contact with alumni prospects and donors; work closely with faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers to coordinate approaches on key initiatives and prospects; and perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of progressive professional experience with fundraising or sales with a particular focus on building long-term, collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Major gift experience in fundraising within a higher educational environment is highly desirable; however, sales or nonprofit major gift fundraising experience combined with a thorough knowledge of a university environment will be considered. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills are required. Candidates must possess the ability to take initiative in an entrepreneurial environment. Experience working with MS Word, Excel, and customer/donor relations databases is required.
Note: Position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
