This grant position coordinates the skills training and employment preparation courses for English as a Second Language (ESL) students with refugee status. The Coordinator oversees the planning and implementation of program activities, including consultation with other service providers, development of training curriculum, training and supervision of program staff, and evaluation of services and outcomes.

Education and Outreach
  • Coordinate with partner agencies and ESL program for the referral of refugees to employment training program
  • Market program to refugee community
  • Develop relationship with business community for development of training programs and internships
  • Identify potential resources which may utilized to improve refugee services
  • Develop informational material outlining employment training program services
  • Coordinate with job placement service partners the placement of refugees in training related jobs
Counseling and Case Management
  • Counsel refugees and assist in the resolution of problems relating to education and/or training, family concerns, and other issues that may hinder a student's ability to successfully complete the training program
  • Conduct student intake and assessment
  • Perform in-depth interviews with refugees to assess their English proficiency, skills, educational, and experience backgrounds, and career desires in order to refer potential students to appropriate area of training
Administration and Management
  • Manage staff and day-to day-operations of the program
  • Coordinate job readiness and occupational skills training with training and academic departments within BCCC and with partnering education entities
  • Manage budget and expenditures
  • Review existing and develop new training programs that offer clear career pathways to continued education and employment for program participants
  • Maintain records of services provided as required by the state and federal government
  • Hire and train teaching staff, in coordination with the Refugee Program Manager
  • Monitor program data and materials, including attendance records, referrals, timesheets, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, TESOL, human services or related field
  • Two years of experience providing educational or social services to immigrant and/or refugee populations.
