The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The City Colleges of Chicago is currently in the midst of a collaborative effort to review and revise CCC programs and practices to ensure students leave CCC college-ready, career-ready and prepared to pursue their life's goals.
CCC includes seven colleges: Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Malcolm X College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S Truman College, Harold Washington College and Wilbur Wright College. The system also oversees: the Washburne Culinary Institute, the French Pastry School, two restaurants, five Child Development Centers, the Center for Distance learning, the Workforce Institute, the public broadcast station WYCC-TV Channel 20 and radio station WKKC-FM 89.3FM.
This position oversees the day-to-day operations related to Campus Building Management and Operations at an assigned location in an effort to provide an efficient, safe and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff and the general public. This position reports to the District Director of Facilities within the Administrative Services Division and will represent Administrative Services or the college to which they are assigned at various internal and external meetings when appropriate. On the district level, the position may serve as Assistant District-wide Director of Facilities when required.
Supervises and directs the daily operations of the college's maintenance and Housekeeping staff, ensuring that appropriate training is consistently provided to maintain clean and safe classrooms and learning spaces, offices, washrooms, cafeterias and public areas. Coordinates day-to-day building operations with the President's Office, Academic departments and Engineering department to ensure an efficient, safe and well maintained environment. Responsible for scheduling work shifts and assigning appropriate work crews, timekeeping, documenting performance and recommending personnel actions when required.
Serves as the construction project manager for repair and renovation jobs under $250,000 at assigned location by working with the requesting department in the planning and construction start-up through the punch list phase. Responsible for preparing facility space lease agreements and room assignments for events planned by City Colleges and outside parties and ensuring that the terms established in the Board of Trustees' Operations Policies and Procedures Manual are met.
Oversees intergovernmental services for CCC vehicle fleet including fuel, repair, and maintenance; and the Mail Room and Reprographic Centers daily operations. Participates on the District-wide Document Management Taskforce to establish and implement policies and procedures regarding paper reduction, and the retention, storage, electronic conversion and destruction of the District's documents. Develops and implements an effective Risk Management and Loss Control Program for the college, including asset inventorying, for the purpose of controlling and minimizing the District's liability before, during and after accidental losses of property, income, life or bodily injury.
Is "on-call" when situations involving the operational safety of the facility are compromised. Works with the President or his/her designee, Chief Engineer, Security Director, College Executive Director and staff from District Office to resolve issues. Assists in compiling the department/college operational budget. Researches financial records and reports to supplement the final document. Prepares annual reports, progress reports and other financial statements necessary for monitoring the budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field supplemented by 5 years experience in the operation of business and financial affairs in higher education or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's Degree is preferred. Administrative experience in the management of the daily operations of a college or comparable organization is also required. Previous supervisory experience required with proven leadership capabilities.
Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task. Must have demonstrated knowledge and a proven track record in fiscal affairs as it relates to institutional planning and management. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs.
