Duties: This temporary position will support the New Media efforts by working closely with Creative Services and Marketing and Communications staff and clients in planning, recording and editing video projects for University events and clients with strategic emphasis on use as integrated management and marketing tools. Individual will attend production meetings with clients, coordinate video shoots and production elements as needed to develop quality video projects for the use on the University website; digital video channels include YouTube and Vimeo, Campus TV and other electronic outlets. The temporary employee (videographer) will contribute to and assist in the efforts of the Office of the Marketing & Communications as it develops video initiatives to enhance the image and visibility of Benedictine University. Other duties will include: developing, managing, shooting and editing video projects including, digital shorts, slideshows, PowerPoint presentations, podcasts, etc.; meeting with University departments and clients requesting video projects; gathering and coordinating necessary elements for video productions including script information, b-roll, still photos, graphics and music; working with Social and Multimedia Manager on selected video projects; and organizing digital photos in the Marketing and Communications drive.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Web Design, Social Media preferred.
Experience: One to three years of video productions experience. Must be familiar with HD video equipment and comfortable editing HD projects under tight deadlines; familiar with basic video graphics programs; knowledge of public relations/marketing/communications/journalism/social media helpful.
Specific Skills: Expertise in the principles of and appreciation of good video design; have a good understanding of effective marketing communications practices; have excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; have excellent time management skills; handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines; writing skills a plus; be creative and have initiative; photography skills; video production skills; understanding of and appreciation for higher education.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, and Certifications: Digital video camera and still photo operation, FinalCutPro or other video editing software, standard office business personal computer, Microsoft Office Software; graphic design QuarkXPress, Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop.
Working Conditions: Sitting, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing and all visual activity. Ability to set up lights and video equipment for on-location video shoots. Carrying and lifting cameras, lights, and power cords.
