As the chief academic officer of an IU campus, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is accountable to the Chancellor for the management, quality, development, coordination, evaluation, and promotion of all academic programs and courses of the IU Southeast campus. The Vice Chancellor oversees and makes recommendations to the Chancellor on the recruitment, selection, evaluation, compensation, advising, promotion, tenure, termination, granting of leaves, assignments, and research aid of faculty members and other academic personnel. He/she directly supervises the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean for Research, the deans of the academic units, the Registrar, the Director of the Library, the Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence, the Honors Program, the Liberal Studies program, and the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
The successful candidate is a visionary leader who understands the complexities and challenges of higher education and can make and implement difficult decisions in a consultative and collaborative environment. Candidates must have ten years progressive experience in academic administration at the Assistant Dean level and/or above, including supervision and personnel actions, budget management, and planning. Candidates must demonstrate a record of teaching, scholarship, and service to qualify for appointment as a tenured (full) professor in one of the academic programs at IU Southeast. An earned terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
