Earlham College is seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, whose duties include planning and coordinating selected activities in the Alumni Relations Office. The Assistant Director is also responsible for managing the e-communications and social media communications on behalf of the Institutional Advancement Office. The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Relations and works closely with the other members of the alumni and development staff.

This full-time, 12-month appointment offers a full-benefit package. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and staffing alumni gatherings in regional associations and target cities throughout the country, especially as they relate to young alumni who have graduated in the last ten years.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of events and outreach efforts that begin to transition students into alumni status, such as Legacy Family, events Alumni Council networking events and panels, and assisting the Center for Career Education with outreach events.
  • Update, maintain and develop content associated with the Alumni and Development website, including event listings, classnotes, obituaries, and In Memoriam pages.
  • Prepare and send Straight from The Heart, the College's electronic newsletter.
  • Assist with the processing of other e-communications being sent from the Office of Institutional Advancement via JangoMail, such as Earlham Fund solicitations, regional event invitations, and special announcements.
  • Develop content and maintain Alumni Relations' social media presence.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of Homecoming and Reunion Weekend activities, such as the Student Ambassador program.
  • Assist with the planning efforts as they relate to the Alumni Council.
  • Oversee and coordinate the class chair and class notes processes as they relate to Earlhamite magazine, including editing of notes and obituaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Alumni Relations and the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, editing, organization, and planning. Willingness to travel is essential.
  • Coordinate work effectively with alumni volunteers and other members of the College community. Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in admissions, alumni relations, or marketing and communications in a college or university setting.
