Duties & Responsibilities
The Accountant for HBS Executive Education plays a key role in the management of accounts receivables for open enrollment and custom programs as well as targeted bookkeeping for custom programs. Specific responsibilities include:
Executive Education Open Enrollment Programs (70%): Coordinates and manages payment receipt for Executive Education programs. Works closely with Invoicing Coordinator to manage unpaid balances. Liaison with University Offices and HBS Finance for financial matters related to EE program participants including wire transfer issues and participant refunds. Maintains complete accounting records for payments, revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and other accounts for Executive Education programs. Prepares and records journal entries. Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepares quarterly closing entries to the general ledger. Completes program activity analysis and prepares various management reports. Other duties as assigned.
Custom Programs (30%): Responsible for the general accounting and bookkeeping for HBS Custom Programs including revenue, deferred revenue, expense accruals, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepares and analyzes management reporting relating to Custom Programs, including compensation reporting, quality assurance reports and account receivables aging. Responsible for year-end audit function including schedule preparation and interface with auditors; tax preparation, including support schedules for 990 and 1099's. Other duties as assigned.
Business degree (BS) with concentration in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 years of direct experience. Ability to work independently, efficiently and maintain a professional manner relating to highly confidential information; ability to set priorities; proficiency with Excel required; experience with a variety of financial software products including QuickBooks, Oracle financial systems and other accounting software applications necessary; strong attention to detail; possess ability to identify process improvements relating to the role; ability to work well with others in a customer-service environment; strong written and oral communication skills.Additional Information
